Talking About Teaching - Mentoring Student Internships
Mentoring student internships (for academic credit)
- Location: JSC - Salsbury-Young
- Time: 11:45 AM - 1:15 PM
- Sponsor: Faculty
Our students are increasingly looking for internships to make them competitive candidates for jobs and graduate programs once they’ve graduated. Sometimes students choose internships that are unrelated to academic pursuits (and thus not credit-bearing). Other times students wish to connect their internships with their academic studies and they will petition to have the internship count for credit and ask a faculty member to serve as their faculty supervisor. In this Talking about Teaching lunch, Liselda Fabian, Internship Coordinator in the Career Development Center, will walk us through the guidelines of the INT course and the role of the faculty supervisor. Further, a panel of faculty and students will talk about the academic projects they assigned/conducted in tandem with their internship experience.
