Critical Language Scholarship Information Meeting
If you or your students are interested in summer overseas study scholarships for the languages listed below, please attend.
There will be a power point presentation by CLS representative Andy Bamber, and plenty of time for questions and answers. This is a competitive program, and the deadline for applications is mid-November, so don't miss this opportunity!
The Department of State’s Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program...provides fully-funded intensive language instruction and cultural enrichment overseas each summer for U.S. graduate and undergraduate students. CLS languages include Arabic, Azerbaijani, Bangla, Chinese, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Punjabi, Russian, Turkish and Urdu.
Several of these programs do not require any previous study of the language and we encourage students of all disciplines to apply. Among our alumni are students of dentistry, geology, and agriculture in addition to the more traditional foreign language and political science majors.
The Summer 2013 application has just launched and will close on November 15. We are organizing an outreach visit to the Los Angeles area to spread the word about CLS and answer any questions students might have about the program or the application process.
More information on the program can be found in the attached flyer and at www.clscholarship.org.
