Julie Prebel teaches courses in writing/composition, rhetorical theory, and cultural studies.

Professor Prebel's research focuses on cultural rhetorics, composition theory and pedagogy, writing center scholarship, American literature, and cultural studies. Two of her current projects demonstrate the range of her interests and expertise: a co-authored article examining diversity and issues of representation in writing center journal publications; and an article in feminist rhetorical theory on Black feminist embodied rhetoric in the works of Frances E.W. Harper and Ida B. Wells. She presents her work regularly at national conferences such as IWCA, CCCCs, and conferences in feminist/cultural rhetorics.

Professor Prebel is an Associate Editor for a prominent writing center journal in the field: WLN: A Journal of Writing Center Scholarship.
