Professor Melinda Houston teaches Sport and Exercise Psychology and Sport in U.S. Society. She is the head conditioning coach for the athletic department and is a certified mental training consultant.

Her research interests include quality training and the coach-athlete relationship. She was also a volunteer assistant coach for Cal State Fullerton's men's and women's track and fields teams, and was a research coordinator in UCLA's psychology department. She has published and co-published articles in journals such as Athletic Therapy Today, the Sports Psychologist, and the Journal of Applied Sport Psychology. Houston also wrote a chapter for the textbook, Sport and Exercise Psychology: To the Cutting Edge.
