OSHIP Financial Assistance
An OSHIP Grant may be available to help pay for your Oxy health insurance cost.
All enrolled students must have health insurance in order to enroll at Oxy. While many students are covered under a parent’s policy and others have their own insurance through the Affordable Care Act (ACA), those who don’t (or whose policies do not meet minimum standards) are required to purchase insurance through the Occidental Student Health Insurance Program (OSHIP).
For 2014-2015 the premium of this insurance is $1726. While limited grants are available through the Financial Aid Office, they are only awarded to students who have exhausted all other cost-effective options.
If you have been denied a hard waiver from Gallagher or you are not currently insured you may apply for an OSHIP Grant to help cover the cost of your Oxy health insurance.
Before you complete this application, you must have been denied a hard waiver from Gallagher or not be insured and you must have been ineligible for federal health insurance in California.
Complete the OSHIP Grant Application and submit it to the Financial Aid Office by August 1st. Incomplete forms may hinder your chances of receiving this grant. We will notify you if your application has been approved or denied by August 10th.
