Occidental's department of German, Russian, and Classical Studies offers courses in elementary, intermediate, advanced, and conversational German, elementary and intermediate Russian, and elementary and intermediate Latin and Greek, as well as classes in modern German and Russian history, literature, and culture. Independent study opportunities also are available. Students of Latin and Greek can use these courses as part of their Classics minor. While German and Russian are offered as minors only, students may also combine German or Russian with another language or linguistics into a Group Language major.
