Bill Kahane
Managing Director GF Capital Management
Mr. Kahane has been in the real estate business for over 25 years. Bill began his real estate career as a lawyer, and practiced in the public and private sectors from 1974-1979. He joined Morgan Stanley & Co. in 1981 as an associate in the Real Estate Group of the Investment Banking Department. He left the firm in 1992 as a Managing Director, having worked in New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo and London. In Los Angeles and abroad, Mr. Kahane managed Morgan Stanley’s real estate advisory businesses. Bill has been involved in some of the largest and most complex real estate transactions successfully executed, including corporate restructurings for Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical, Pacific Lighting Corporation, and Regent International Hotels; the corporate dissolution of Ala Mona Hawaii Properties; strategic advisory work for California Public Employees Retirement System; and asset sales for Outrigger Hotels Hawaii, Equitable Life Assurance Society and Prudential Life Insurance.
Mr. Kahane earned his MBA from Stanford University, where he was named a Mason Smith Fellow, a law degree from U.C.L.A., and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Occidental College. Bill is presently a director of Catellus Development Corp., a NYSE growth-oriented, real estate development company, where he previously served as Chairman. In addition, Mr. Kahane serves as a Trustee of American Financial Realty Trust, a self-managed, self-administered real estate investment trust (REIT) focused on acquiring and operating properties leased to regulated financial institutions.
