Meet the Global Affairs fellows
Nina Beizai
Beizai has been at the heart of international relations her entire life. A graduate of John Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies, Nina has a Masters in International Relations and Economics as well as a second graduate degree in Political Science from the University of Vienna, Austria. She has held numerous posts with the United Nations, including overseas work with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the Austrian Permanent Mission to the UN, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the UNDP Bureau for Conflict Prevention and Recovery. Most recently, Nina served as Editor of The Swoop, by the Washington Assessment and Analysis Service. Her academic specialization and critical understanding of the Middle East have allowed her to publish widely on issues pertaining to Iran, Afghanistan and US-Middle East Relations. Currently, Nina is part of PAAIA’s (Public Affairs Association of Iranian Americans) Executive team, taking on responsibility for Public Affairs and Donor Relations.
Ash Kumra
Kumra is co-founder and chief executive officer of DesiYou, an online Indian entertainment network. DesiYou creates and distributes Indian video content to empower South Asians and culture enthusiasts abroad via www.desiyou.com and its multi platform distribution network (online, mobile, search, TV). Ash is also the founder and chairman of Society Media Network; a media company focused on empowering influential Generation X and Y communities. Ash is an frequently cited source on entrepreneurship and has worked with Investor Business Daily, Reuters, Business Week, USC Marshall School of Business, and University of California Irvine Paul Merage Business School among others.
