Situtations
Any situation or condition which jeopardizes an Occidental College student(s)' physical or mental health, safety, well-being or academic progress and/or requires the intervention of staff. Such events or occurrences may include, but not be limited to: civil disturbance, natural disaster, severe or prolonged illness or injury requiring hospitalization, disciplinary action, emotional or behavioral disorders, illegal actions (i.e. drug use), absence from the program site, academic probation, etc.

For study abroad students, the in-country program staff are usually the first point of contact. Follow-up with IPO as soon as possible.
For international students at Occidental, the regular on-campus student support system (Emmons, Campus Safety, Dean of Students, etc.) is usually the first point of contact. College officers contact IPO as a matter of protocol, but students/families should contact IPO directly, if possible.
