International students are citizens of another country attending Occidental on an F or J student visa. As non-US citizens, you are subject to federal regulations pertaining to your non-immigrant status. It will be important that you maintain contact with the International Programs Office so that you can remain legally in the US as a student. More information on your rights and responsibilities as an international student and maintaining status in the visa section.
What is International OxyEngage?
International OxyEngage is an orientation program for international students attending Occidental on student visas. The on-campus sessions will discuss US culture, cultural adjustment, academic success, visa rules and regulations and many other topics of particular interest to international students. The off-campus excursions into Los Angeles will introduce you to your new home! Find answers to frequently asked questions here: http://www.oxy.edu/oxyengage/registration-trip-resources/faq
How do I get to the Occidental campus from the airport?
You will find information on getting to campus from the airport in Destination Occidental: A Handbook for International Students. Most students take shared van rides from either Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) or Burbank airport. You can expect to pay around $35 for a shuttle.
She will be at the Tom Bradley International Terminal in the arrival area. She will help you find a shared shuttle. If you arrive before or after those hours, walk to the curbside and go to the sign that says “Shared Ride Vans.” There will be a representative there who will call a shared van for you. If you are arriving at Burbank airport, be sure to reserve a shuttle before arrival.
