Schedule

MSI is intensive both in terms of the academic program and in terms of the co-curricular program. A typical day begins with breakfast, followed by class from 9:00am until noon. Following lunch, you may be participating in either academic or co-curricular activities. On some days, you will be working in small groups with your teaching assistant, meeting with the faculty during office hours, or working on your papers with peers or with the TAs. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 1:00-3:00pm, students will engage in Social Justice By the Numbers. Other days you may take a trip into Los Angeles. Or you may stay on the Occidental campus and learn about the Center for Academic Excellence, the Career Center, or attend a program on religious diversity. After dinner, there will be time both for studying and programs. Once a week, we will have hall spread, where everyone in the hall gets together to talk about hall issues and have some fun.

 

On weekends, we will engage you in diversity training and in community service. MSI requires a total commitment from each participant. Due to the intense nature of the academic and co-curricular program, you will be with us all day, every day. Unfortunately, exceptions cannot be made for family events, religious services, or work.
