Campus Tour Guidelines
Thank you for your interest in visiting Occidental College. NPP welcome your group! Please read the following list of conditions and expectations before you submit the Campus Tour Request Form.
NPP works with all elementary and middle schools, educational partnerships organizations and youth groups with chaperoned students. The program hosts students ranging from 1st to 8th grade. Due to the volume of requests we receive, we can only accommodate tours of fewer than 60 people. Groups must include a minimum ratio of 1 chaperone per 20 students.
NPP cannot provide tours to high school students. To set up a tour for your high school group or to find more information, please call the Occidental College Office of Admissions at 323-259-2700 or visit http://www.oxy.edu/admission-aid/visit-campus.
All groups must be accompanied by at least one adult chaperone per twenty visitors. All chaperones must remain with the group at all times including the entire campus tour. Group chaperones are responsible for the behavior of their students while they are guests on our campus. All chaperones are required to fill out a Chaperone Responsibility Form. Tour guides have the authority to end a campus tour if any student behaves inappropriately.
How to sign up for a tour
Student-led campus tours are available on Monday & Wednesday at 10:00am and 1:00pm or Tuesday and Thursday at 11:30am and 12:30pm. Tours generally last 45 minutes. Due to staff commitments, on-campus events, or times of high visitor volume, there are certain time periods when tours are not available.
Group visits are contingent upon the availability of room space and tour guides. In order to be considered for a visit, please complete and return the Campus Tour Request Form at least 2 weeks in advance of your desired date. No group visit request is considered unless a completed Campus Tour Request Form is received. No visit request is ever guaranteed in advance and is only officially confirmed upon receipt of a written confirmation email from the NPP staff. When choosing your arrival time, we ask that you plan accordingly so that you may arrive on time. Arriving late may cause your group to miss all or part of your campus tour. If you wish to cancel your visit, after receiving a confirmation, you must contact us at email@example.com. On the day of your visit, please provide a cell phone number of the accompanying group leader so that we may contact him/her if necessary.
To request a visit for your group, complete the group visit reservation. Spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. All requests will be confirmed within 5 business days of your request. We can only accommodate students in grades 1-8.
Lunch is not covered by the program. Your group is able to purchase food from the Marketplace (the campus dining hall) with cash. Your group may also pack bagged lunches if desired. We do not have a place to refrigerate or store students’ food. Lunch plans need to be established with NPP prior to your scheduled tour.
