Business as Usual Despite Wet Weather
Some wild weather in Southern California this week has made for dramatic media coverage but has had little impact on the Occidental College campus, apart from giving everything a good soaking.
Reports of flooding and tornadoes have chiefly come from coastal areas well to the west of Occidental, and hillside areas threatened by potential mudslides or debris flows are some miles north of the Occidental campus.
"We've had a few minor leaks, a few clogged drains and some wind, but nothing out of the ordinary," said Jim Tranquada, Occidental's director of communications. "It's been business as usual on campus."
Showers continue to fall today, but forecasters say the brunt of the recent series of storms has passed. Clearing skies are expected on Saturday.
