Choirs to Join Symphony Dec. 10

December 5, 2005

The combined choirs of Occidental College, conducted by Jeffrey Bernstein, will sing Vaughan Williams’ “Fantasia on Christmas Carols” with the Pasadena Symphony Orchestra on Dec. 10.

The performance is scheduled for 8 p.m. at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, 300 E. Green St.

Tickets can be purchased at the Pasadena Symphony Orchestra box office or by going to www.pasadenasymphony.org. The box office phone number is (626) 584-8833. Single tickets range in price from $15 to $69. Tickets for children ages 5 to 17 are $10. Discounted tickets are available if purchased from an Occidental choir member.

The performance will include Respighi’s “The Pines of Rome,” Liszt’s Les Preludes and Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1. Jorge Mester will conduct and Elmar Oliveira is the featured violinist. Of “Fantasia on Christmas Carols,” Bernstein said: “It’s a beautiful, joyous, solemn celebration of great Christmas carols. It’s sort of a nostalgic romp through a lot of your favorites, and a lot of lesser known carols.”
