Glee Club to Perform Beethoven's "Ninth Symphony" May 29

The Occidental College Glee Club will join the Santa Monica Symphony in a performance of Beethoven’s “Ninth Symphony” at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, May 29 at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, 1855 Main St.

Completed in 1824, Beethoven’s “Ninth Symphony” is considered among the best known of all classical music works. It features “Ode to Joy” and is sung by soloists and a chorus in the last movement. It is the first example of a major composer using the human voice on the same level as instruments in a composition.
