Occidental's Financial Aid Office is Ready to Help
Occidental's Financial Aid Office stands ready to assist students and families experiencing difficulties due to the recession, says Maureen McRae, the College's director of financial aid.
"During these challenging times, Occidental will continue to meet the demonstrated financial need of all incoming and continuing students," McRae said. "We want to encourage students and parents to let us know about any special circumstances and emphasize once again how important it is to meet all application deadlines."
For continuing students, that means meeting the March 2 deadline, which will ensure that funds will be allocated appropriately to qualifying students. By filing an on-time application, students will be guaranteed eligibility for aid.
It is equally important to contact the Financial Aid Office if you begin to experience economic hardships, McRae counsels. The office on the bottom floor of the Coons Administrative Center is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is an open-door policy for walk-in appointments and phone, e-mail, and fax communications are welcomed. "If you are experiencing economic hardship, please contact us as soon as possible," McRae says. "We want to keep Oxy students enrolled and focused on their studies."
