Orientation Starts Aug. 26
Welcome to Occidental College! We have planned an informative and memorable Orientation week for first-year students, transfers, graduate, exchange and international students, parents and friends.
Our Orientation 2006 guide will answer most commonly asked questions – from those about campus meal plans and the right size sheets to bring, to Greek life and athletics. There also is hotel information for families and much more to make your transition a smooth one.
Orientation activities begin with residence hall move-in at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, with an official welcome set for 1 p.m. at Thorne Hall. Don’t forget to pick up your Orientation packet and to take part in an introduction to student resources and O-Group meetings that will give an overview to the week’s events. Saturday winds up with a longtime Oxy tradition: the ice-breaker carnival in Sycamore Glen.
Placement exams are set for Sunday, Aug. 27 across campus. Please consult your schedule. The first day of classes is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 30, preceded by the annual Convocation ceremony at 9 a.m.
