Campus & Community Organizer
(Formerly Program Manager)

This is a two-year position (however continuation to a second year is not guaranteed and based on a successful first year evaluation). Campus & Community Organizers (CCOs) work 10-12 hours in the OCE supporting student projects, collaborating with college departments and offices, assisting community partners connect to the campus, and managing OCE campus-wide events. CCOs are required to work as a team and in conjunction with the other CCOs. The CCO will provide support and guidance to the student-run service organizations, act as peer advisers to student group leaders, and ensure that the student-led organizations continue to reflect the greater mission of community engagement at Oxy. In addition, the CCOs will assist the OCE staff with administrative duties as necessary.

The Office of Community Engagement (OCE) provides students with opportunities to enact Occidental’s values through community-based service and learning collaborations with organizations in Los Angeles and beyond. We work with all members of the Occidental community in challenging students to connect their on campus learning experiences with meaningful and reciprocal off campus experiences on issues of social concern. In doing so, the OCE seeks to support students’ development as responsible members of communities and endeavors to achieve a more just, livable, and democratic society, a strong commitment to diversity, and a commitment to enacting a life devoted to public good and social justice.
