Student Community Engagement Council
The Student Community Engagement Council (CEC) at Occidental College is a group of student leaders working to inspire and communicate community engagement efforts through direct service, student group collaboration, advocacy, and community involvement.
The Council acts as a supportive umbrella group for student-led service and social action organizations on campus. The CEC provides a space to discuss college issues regarding community engagement where the students' voices will be more directly acknowledged and publicized.
In addition to meeting and deliberating community issues, the Council is a valuable information resource for students to discover what community engagement work is being done either on campus or in the greater Los Angeles community. It is also a resource for students to learn how they can be involved. The CEC is committed to social justice, developing long-term neighborhood partnerships, improving community conditions and building the capacity of our communities, while also enhancing learning and awareness at the College.
