Welcome to Oxy; we are excited to see you on campus for orientation in August! Below is general information that should help you in planning your travel to campus. Be sure to check back closer to August for updated information!
New Student Orientation
August 21-26, 2015
All new students (First-Year, Transfer, International*, Exchange* and Visiting Students*) are required to attend New Student Orientation which begins with move-in on Friday, August 21 at 8 am. During Orientation, students will have the opportunity to register for classes, meet with faculty, learn about campus resources, discuss important issues related to student life, make new friends, and get settled. The 2014 New Student Orientation schedule can be found here. As all new students are expected to attend, registration is not required for new student orientation.
August 21-23, 2015
We hope you will join us for this short, yet very important orientation. During this 2-1/2 day event, you will receive information regarding Oxy and the community surrounding it. While most of the family sessions are separate from student session, you will have the opportunity to spend free time with your student. The Family Program runs from 8 am - 8 pm on Friday, 9 am to 7 pm on Saturday, and 9:30 am to 3 pm on Sunday. The 2014 Family Orientation schedule can be be found here. Although registration is not required, family members and guests can register for the Family Orientation program beginning in June.
*International Student Orientation
Three distinct International Student Orientations will be conducted prior to general New Student Orientation. Programming is tailored to fit the needs of each group, depending on where you went to high school, your experience with US culture and academics, and your relationship to the college. As programming for each population is different, please plan to arrive as follows:
- Sunday, August 16 – Students who went to high school outside of the U.S. or Canada.
- Tuesday, August 18 – Exchange and visiting students attending Occidental for one semester or year.
- Thursday, August 20 – Students who went to high school inside the US or Canada.
