Social Justice and the City
This trip aims to introduce new students to the needs of surrounding communities through intentional partnerships with campus departments and local non-profits. The trip includes neighborhood excursions, community service projects and other fun activities through which students can become more familiar with the challenges and opportunities that come from living in an urban environment. Each summer OxyEngage partners with different campus partners including the Office of Community Engagement, the Urban & Environmental Policy Institute (UEPI) and the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life to build a comprehensive social justice trip that touches on pertinent issues such as environmental justice, food access, equitable transportation and others.
