Occidental College Philosophy Department presents

What is Genocide and Why is it so bad?

Prof. Abed will argue that genocide is a violent process tied in complex ways to war, military occupation, colonization, and nation-state consolidation. According to this view, “ethnic cleansing” and cultural assimilation can be genocidal policies. Although Genocide is not the worst of the international crimes, the Holocaust is morally distinctive. Professor Mohammed Abed California State University, Los Angeles Thursday, October 28th 4:30 to 6:30 Fowler 202 Everyone is invited Refreshments will be served. Sponsored by the Remsen Bird Fund
