Hal received his PhD in philosophy from UCLA. His areas of specialization include the philosophy of science and aesthetics. He was a student of Hans Reichenbach. He resides in Eagle Rock and travels extensively.
Bill passed away on April 8th, 2014. He was 79 years old. Bill taught at Occidental from 1965 to 2004, making him one of the longest-serving members of the faculty in the history of the College. He received his PhD from UCLA, where he worked with the distinguished philosopher Rudolf Carnap. Bill's work was focused on topics in logic, phenomenology, and ethics. His books included The Role of Feelings in Morals and Sherlock's Logic.
