Dear Campus Community,

The Search Committee for the Dean of the College/Vice President for Academic Affairs is excited to report that we will bring three final candidates to campus interviews on:

  • Monday 11/14 and Tuesday 11/15
  • Wednesday 11/16 and Thursday 11/17
  • Monday 11/28 and Tuesday 11/29

Twenty-four hours prior to each candidate’s on-campus visit (on Friday, in the case of the two Monday visits), you will receive a campus-wide email from Marsha Schnirring with a link to the candidate's CV (posted on the College’s Google drive).

Dear Oxy Community,

We are happy to report that the VPAA/Dean of the College Search is moving into its third stage now that we have completed all of the community discussion forums, the online survey, and review of candidate files.

First, we have created a website for the VPAA/Dean of the College Search where you can find search documents, timelines, and updates as well as the results of the online survey, which had 113 respondents. The survey data and comments have been incredibly helpful, so many thanks to those of you who participated in the survey and/or attended one of the discussion forums. We interrupt your last days of summer break to make a formal call for nominations for the position of Dean of the College and Vice President for Academic Affairs (Dean/VPAA). Attached you can find the Leadership Profile and Position Description, which the Dean/VPAA Search Committee completed this summer. Recruitment ads have been placed in a broad range of national outlets and our executive search consultants at Witt/Kieffer have already begun fielding multiple inquiries. Many of you have also begun preliminary conversations with potential candidates, too, and we thank you for your recruitment efforts!

Dear Campus Community,

We write in our capacity as co-chairs of the VP for Academic Affairs & Dean of the College search committee, to update you on the start-up phase of the search and plans for the second phase of recruitment. Below you will find a timeline of all events to date that have informed the start-up phase of the search as well as the development of the Leadership Profile and Position Description, which the committee completed on May 31. Once Witt/Kieffer, the search firm retained to assist with the search, finishes the final formatting for this document, we will share it with you and make a formal call for candidate nominations.  

Moving forward into the recruitment phase, Witt/Kiefer will work on active candidate recruiting, screening, and interviewing over the next three months. In mid-to-late July we will discuss the progress of the recruitment and diversity of the candidate pool with Witt/Kiefer and provide an update to the campus community...
