Occidental and Nanjing Sign Exchange Agreement – December 8, 2011
To continue reinforcing old ties with China, Chancellor Yingxing Hong of Nanjing University and I signed an agreement to promote the exchange of students, faculty, and teaching and research materials. Nanjing is one of three Chinese cities where Occidental students currently study overseas, through an agreement with the Council on International Educational Exchange.
Honorary Degree for Eric Schlosser - November 17, 2011
Eric Schlosser, author of the best-selling book Fast Food Nation, delivered the annual Antoinette and Vincent M. Dungan Lecture on Energy and the Environment. We were thrilled to present him with an honorary degree – and a standing ovation – at the event. More photos
Convocation – August 31, 2011
It was wonderful to welcome all 580 students from the Class of 2015 at our annual Convocation ceremony. These students arrived at an auspicious time, as we began our 125th anniversary celebration.
Celebrating Jack Kemp ’57 – April 29, 2011
An afternoon ceremony under a tent on the 50-yard line featured a surprise for Joanne Main Kemp ’58 and the more than three dozen Kemp and Main family members in attendance: an announcement that the Occidental Board of Trustees had voted to name the College’s first and oldest athletic facility Jack Kemp Stadium after Congressman and former professional football player Jack Kemp ’57.
