Occidental College
Student Handbook
Advisors
Students are responsible for knowing the following:
34. A parent or guardian or any student, faculty member, administrator, or staff member at Occidental College who is not an attorney may advise complainants and respondents. Advisors may not address hearing bodies, speak in disciplinary conferences, or question witnesses.
35. The role of an advisor is limited to consultation. Advisors may not speak in conduct conferences or address Conduct Council members. Furthermore, advisors shall not question witnesses in any forum or at any time before, during or after conduct proceedings.
36. Students should select advisors whose schedules will allow their attendance at the date and time allotted for the hearing. An advisor's scheduling conflict will not be permitted to delay the prompt resolution of conduct proceedings.
