Non-Discrimination and Equal Opportunity Employment

Students are responsible for knowing the following:

Occidental College is absolutely committed to equal opportunity in employment and education. Accordingly, Occidental College does not discriminate against employees, applicants, or students because of race, color, religion, gender, pregnancy, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, age, marital status, physical disability, mental disability, medical condition, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by state or federal law.

The College actively seeks racial, gender, and ethnic diversity in the faculty, staff, and students, and provides equal opportunities for women and minorities at all levels within the institution. The College is not only committed to equal employment opportunity in employment, but to a program of multicultural education involving cultural and ethnic diversity among all constituents of the College community.

Nondiscrimination has long been a matter of policy and principle at Occidental. The College will not discriminate, nor tolerate discrimination, against any applicant, employee, or student in any of its policies, procedures, or practices. This policy covers all selection and decision practices of the employment relationship, as well as admission to, access to, and treatment of students in Occidental's programs and activities.

The Non-Discrimination Policy complies with Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Immigration and Nationality Act, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, regulations of the Internal Revenue Service, and with all applicable laws of the State of California.
