PPIA Fellowship & Junior Summer Institute

The PPIA Junior Summer Institutes (JSI) have been the hallmark of the PPIA Fellowship Program for over 20 years. JSI is an intensive seven-week summer program that focuses on preparing students for graduate programs in public and international affairs and careers as policy professionals, public administrators and other leadership roles in public service.

Award amount: Full tuition to attend PPIA JSI, stipend up to $1,500 and minimum $5,000 toward graduate school tuition.

Davis Projects for Peace

Davis Project for peace is an initiative for all students at the Davis United World College Scholars Program schools to design their own grassroots projects for peace that they themselves will iplement anywhere in the world during the summer 2011. Through a competition on over 90 campuses, 100 projects will be selected for funding at $10,000 each.

Award Amount: $10,000 for the implementation of the project.

CORO Fellows Program in Public Affairs

The CORO Fellows Program in Public Affairs is a full-time, nine month, graduate-level experiential leadership training program that prepares diverse, intelligent and committed individuals for effective and ethical leadership in the public affairs arena. The Fellows Program is rigorous and demanding, an unparalleled opportunity for personal and professional growth. The Fellows Program is offered in Los Angeles, New York, Pittsburgh, San Francisco and St. Louis.

Award amounts: Varies based on placement.

The Donald A. Strauss Public Service Scholarship Foundation was created as a memorial to the late Don Strauss, who demonstrated a strong, lifelong commitment to public service and education. The Foundation annually awards $10,000 scholarships to no fewer than 14 California college juniors who've reflected a similar commitment.

Award amount: $10,000 to be used in the last year of undergraduate study.

These programs, known collectively as the Capital Fellows Programs, are nationally recognized. The 18 Assembly Fellows, 18 Senate Fellows, 18 Executive Fellows and 10 Judicial Administration Fellows receive an outstanding opportunity to engage in public service and prepare for future careers, while actively contributing to the development and implementation of public policy in California.

Award amount: $1,972/month plus health benefits for 11 months.

The Udall Foundation seeks future leaders across a wide spectrum of environmental fields, including policy, engineering, science, education, urban planning and renewal, business, health, justice, and economics. The Foundation also seeks future Native American and Alaska Native leaders in public and community health care, tribal government, and public policy affecting Native American communities, including land and resource management, economic development, and education.

Award amount: Up to $5,000 for tuition, room and board, or other educational expenses.
