My word to describe Oxy: Eclectic
Hometown: Spanish Harlem, NY
Major: Film & Media Studies
"During my freshmen year, Daniel Watson and I were disappointed that the school had few extracurricular outlets on campus for budding filmmakers. Over the next few months, we received enthusiastic feedback about the idea of a campus television network. After much hard work, development, and recruiting, we launched CatAList TV. Soon after, it became an official student media service at Oxy. Oxy's emphasis on "learning by doing" was the impetus for me to bring a video medium to our institution. It has been a pivotal experience and has given me a sensational simulation for the actual business industry that I anticipate joining after Oxy."
"Oxy provides students with a platform to broaden their intellectual scope. I've taken classes in sociology, psychology, philosophy, and marine biology, which are most definitely off the beaten path of most film enthusiasts. However, these courses have allowed me to expand my breadth of knowledge and apply simple lessons and essentials from other disciplines to my life and my work. The value of a liberal arts education is grossly underrated."
