"I've always been called a practical tree-hugger, and the Urban and Environmental Policy major seems a perfect way to actually make a difference to the world. I have varied interests, and the major is interdisciplinary, so it appeals to me even more. My theater major is a testimony to my love for the theater and Oxy's unique academic diversity. I took one class in both majors and was hooked."

"I've had the opportunity to participate in a number of extracurricular activities at Oxy, but the one closest to me is Dance Production. I was able to turn my love for dance into something that would help other people learn about my culture. I got to work with varied personalities and discover my own abilities to lead a team. Being involved in Environmental Initiatives on campus also taught me how much a dedicated group of individuals can do to make real changes to their surroundings. Oxy is everything a college should be. I've found a space that lets you grow at your own pace and points in the correct direction but then lets you make your own path. The atmosphere makes me want to do my best without the pressure of competition. I almost don't like summer because it makes me miss everything I've grown to love about being at Oxy! Everyone chooses Oxy for a different reason but no matter what it is, it's always the right one."
