Senior Comps
Each year as part of their graduation requirements, Occidental seniors complete their comprehensive examination, or senior comp. Comps take a variety of forms, including art exhibits, music recitals, film screenings, theses, and field research projects. Examples of this year’s comps include:
- “Equality and Self-Respect in Contemporary Philosophy” (Philosophy)
- “The Phylogeny of Paralabrx” (Biology)
- “Prosecuting Indiana Jones: On the Trail of Stolen Cambodian Antiquities” (Art History and Visual Arts)
- “Urban Orientalism: The Persistence of Orientalism in Contemporary American Culture” (Asian Studies)
- Vocal recital with music by Mozart, Berlioz, Copland, Poulenc, Barber, Schumann, and Schubert (Music)
- “Essentials of Painting Perception: A Foundation for the Fusion of Art History and Cognitive Science” (Cognitive Science)
- “Do the Benefits Outweigh the Costs of Hosting a Professional Football Franchise in Los Angeles?" (Economics)
- “Creation as Catalyst: Social Capital and Burning Man's Expansion Into the Local” (Sociology)
- “The Anti-Federalists in New York: Indecisive Signers of the Constitution” (History)
