JOHN R. FARMER P’98 (chair) is senior director with Goldman Sachs. A native of Johnson City, Tenn., he received his B.A. from Washington and Lee University in 1961. After two years as a captain in the U.S. Army Counterintelligence Corps, Farmer joined the firm of Almstedt Brothers in Louisville, Ky., in 1963, where he served in the municipal bond department until being named general partner in 1966. He left Almstedt in 1969 to join the institutional department of Hayden Stone Inc., San Francisco, and then went on to Goldman Sachs & Co. in 1974 as vice president of the fixed income division, serving both the Boston and San Francisco regional offices. From 1976-1984, he held the office of vice president/manager of Goldman Sachs’ fixed-income department, San Francisco, becoming a general partner in 1984. In 1988, he became co-head of European fixed income, London, England, and held that post until 1992, when he became co-head of European operations, technology and finance. He assumed the position of limited partner, vice-chairman, Goldman Sachs Europe Ltd. in 1994. In 1999, he assumed his current position of senior director, Goldman Sachs, London.

CHRISTOPHER C. CALKINS ’67 (vice chair) is president of Carlsbad-based Carltas Management, a land-holding and asset-management company. In addition, he is general counsel to the Paul Ecke Ranch and president of CB Ranch Enterprises, which owns and operates the Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch; and director of Armstrong Garden Center and the H.G. Fenton Co. The Altadena native received his A.B. in English literature from Occidental.

STEPHEN F. HINCHLIFFE JR. '55 (vice chair) is chairman and CEO of The Leisure Group Inc. and BHH Management Inc. in Los Angeles. He graduated from Occidental with a bachelor of arts degree in economics and then attended Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration, where he received a master's degree with distinction in business administration in 1957. Following three years of service as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army, Hinchliffe joined the international management consulting firm McKinsey and Company as an associate. He resigned this position in 1964 to form The Leisure Group Inc. The Leisure Group manufactures and markets sporting goods. The company is headquartered in Los Angeles, with manufacturing facilities in Sedalia, Mo.

SUSAN H. MALLORY ’76 M’78 (vice chair) is president, Southern California for Northern Trust, including the state of Nevada, and is located in Los Angeles. Most recently, she was senior vice president and served as Northern Trust's region president, San Diego County and the state of Nevada. She has 30 years of financial services experience in commercial banking and wealth management, primarily in San Diego. She earned a B.A. in history and an M.A. in diplomacy and world affairs from Occidental.

STEPHEN D. ROUNTREE ’71 (vice chair) is president and CEO of the Los Angeles Music Center, having joined the organization in 2003. The Pasadena native received a B.A. in English from Occidental and a master’s in executive management from Claremont Graduate University. Rountree worked at Occidental from 1974 to 1980 before joining the J. Paul Getty Trust as the deputy director of the Getty Museum, a position he held until 1985, when he became vice president and director of the Getty Center Building Program. In 1998, he was named executive vice president and chief operating officer at the Getty. Rountree was Occidental College Alumnus of the Year in 1998 and a 1999 Distinguished Alumnus at CGU.

JONATHAN VEITCH (Occidental College president) was born and raised in Los Angeles. A graduate of Stanford University, he received his doctorate in the history of American civilization from Harvard University in 1992. Following four years as a faculty member at the University of Wisconsin, he returned to the East Coast to assume a teaching and administrative position at The New School in New York City. There he served consecutively as chair of the humanities division, associate provost, and most recently as dean of Eugene Lang College, the university’s undergraduate liberal arts college. While dean, he created a number of partnerships throughout New York City with premier cultural institutions such as the Guggenheim Museum and the New York Historical Society. In addition to his leadership role at The New School, Veitch has been a visiting lecturer and professor at Pomona College, New York University, and Doshisha University in Japan. He has also served as a specialist with the U.S. State Department’s University Partnership program in Kazakhstan, and has lectured on American Studies in Hungary, Turkey, and Korea. He is the author of the award-winning American Superrealism: Nathaneal West and the Politics of Representation in the 1930s. His latest research has focused on the history of higher education and the unique role of the liberal arts college in America.

PETER ADAMSON ’84 is the money manager for Oprah Winfrey. He was the chief investment officer for developer and philanthropist Eli Broad and his foundation before Winfrey hired Adamson as the chief investment officer for OW Management, LLC, her family business. Previously, he advised Texas billionaire Lee Bass and worked at the global consulting firm McKinsey & Company. The magazine Institutional Investor named Adamson the “large foundation manager of the year” in 2010. After receiving his bachelor’s degree in economics from Occidental, Adamson graduated with an MBA from Stanford in 1988.

DAVID H. ANDERSON ’63 is an attorney who retired recently after a 40-year career specializing in environmental law and land-use planning law. He started his career as an assistant U.S. attorney in Los Angeles, working on civil, white-collar crime and environmental law prosecutions. After getting his master's degree, Anderson served as the first general counsel of the California Air Resources Board and a visiting professor of law at the University of Wyoming College of Law. In addition to serving on Occidental's board, Anderson serves on other civic and philanthropic boards such as the California Nature Conservancy, the national Land Trust Alliance (Board Chair), the Wood River Land Trust, Housing Trust Fund of Santa Barbara County, and the Lobero Theatre Foundation.

CARL A. BALLTON '69 is senior vice president and deputy group head of the Corporate Social Responsibility Group of Union Bank and president and COO of the Union Bank Foundation. He is responsible for the charitable contribution policies and initiatives of the bank and the foundation. He also serves as the chairman of the board of directors of the Los Angeles Urban League and is a member of the board of directors of Goodwill Industries of Southern California, Abode Communities, and the California Community Reinvestment Corporation. He is also active on a number of corporate advisory boards, including the United Negro College Fund in Los Angeles, the Greater Los Angeles African American Chamber of Commerce, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles, Valley Economic Development Center, and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation in Los Angeles. He earned his AB in international relations at Oxy and earned an MBA in finance and accounting from the University of Chicago.

DAVID W. BERKUS ’62 P’95 is a venture capitalist with a hands-on background in technology. The Los Angeles native received an A.B. in business administration from Occidental. An entrepreneur for more than 40 years, Berkus is board chairman or member of nine technology companies and is active in 28 businesses. He recently was inducted into the Hospitality Financial and Technology Professional International Hall of Fame, was named Occidental Business Associates Business Person of the Year in 2001, and received the Alumni Seal Award in 2000.

JOHN G. BRANCA ’72 is a partner with Ziffren, Brittenham, Branca, Fischer, Gilbert-Lurie, Stiffelman in Los Angeles. The Bronxville, N.Y., native received an A.B. degree in political science from Occidental and a J.D. degree from UCLA School of Law. A specialist in entertainment law, Branca has represented 26 members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He previously served on the Board of Trustees from 1992 to 1996.

EILEEN ANISGARTEN BROWN ’73 is a real estate developer for Brown’s Building Blocks in Los Angeles. A native of Los Angeles, she graduated cum laude with an A.B. in psychology from Occidental. In 1977, she received her J.D. from UCLA School of Law, and earned her MBA from the UCLA School of Management in 1985. Brown joined Tuttle & Taylor law firm in 1978 as associate before moving to Capitol Records Inc., where she served as a senior attorney from 1978 to 1983. In 1986, she began a new career as owner/manager of a retail toy store, Ages and Stages: Toys with Class, continuing in business until 1992. From 1995 to 1999, Brown was general counsel at Survivors of the Shoah Visual History Foundation, adding responsibilities as grant director in 1998. In 2000, she began a new career in real estate development.

DON CONLAN retired in late 1996 as president of The Capital Group Companies Inc., a large global investment management organization based in Los Angeles. Earlier in his career, he had been chief economist of Chemical Bank (now JPMorganChase Bank) and Dean Witter (now Morgan Stanley). He is a member and former president of the Conference of Business Economists and the National Association of Business Economists and serves on the board of the National Bureau of Economic Research. Conlan has served as chair of the Board of Overseers of the Huntington Library. He also serves or has served on the boards of: the Yosemite Fund; the Joslin Diabetes Center; the American Funds mutual funds; Claremont Graduate University; Value Schools Charter Schools; Camerata Pacifica Chamber Music; the Caltech Humanities and Social Science Chair's Council; and the Pardee RAND Graduate School. Conlan holds BBA and MBA degrees from the University of Michigan.

HECTOR DE LA TORRE '89 served in the California State Assembly from 2004 to 2010, representing the largely Latino 50th District in southeast Los Angeles County. He is currently the vice president of communications and public affairs for FreeConferenceCall.com. Prior to serving in the Assembly, De La Torre served as mayor of South Gate and as a member of the South Gate City Council, a manager at Southern California Edison, chief of staff to the deputy secretary of Labor in the Clinton administration, a judicial administrator for the California Superior Court, legislative director for Rep. Richard H. Lehman (D-Calif.), and a teacher at Edison Junior High in South Los Angeles. De La Torre graduated with a bachelor's degree in diplomacy and world affairs from Occidental and attended the Elliot School of International Affairs at George Washington University.

GLORIA DUFFY '75 is the president and chief executive officer of the San Francisco-based Commonwealth Club, the nation's largest and oldest public affairs forum. Previously, Duffy served as U.S. deputy assistant secretary of Defense and special coordinator for cooperative threat reduction, and was awarded the Secretary of Defense Medal for Outstanding Public Service. Duffy co-founded and served as chair of the board of the Civilian Research and Development Foundation, part of the National Science Foundation that funds international scientific collaboration. She was the first executive director of Ploughshares Fund, and serves on its board of directors. Duffy received her A.B. magna cum laude in 1975 from Occidental and her M.A., M.Phil, and Ph.D. in political science from Columbia University. She also holds an honorary doctor of humane letters from the University of San Francisco.

LOUISE EDGERTON ’67 is the secretary-treasurer and director of the Edgerton Foundation, a family foundation dealing with security issues, the environment, and sustainable energy. The foundation also supports artistic, educational, religious, and cultural institutions in Los Angeles and funds new American plays. Edgerton was a substitute teacher for Los Angeles public schools for many years, and worked as an actress and production assistant for regional theater groups and independent film production companies. More recently, she worked in real estate and property management. Edgerton earned a bachelor’s degree in drama and French from Occidental as well as an M.A. in drama. Her mother, Antoinette Dungan ’33, graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Occidental. She and her husband, Bradford, established the Antoinette and Vincent Dungan Lectureship on Energy and the Environment in honor of her parents.

ANNE CANNON ENDERS ’74 is an independent financial adviser and certified public accountant. An anthropology major at Occidental, she transferred to the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, where she received her degree in economics and accounting. She returned to Occidental to finish her degree and graduated with the Class of 2006. She has worked as an accountant for PriceWaterhouseCoopers, a financial analyst for Mercantile Bank & Trust and Corestates Bank in Baltimore, as chief financial officer of Parkbiddle Co., a merchant bank/real estate development firm, and as a litigation consultant for the Hong Kong office of the New York law firm of Cleary, Gottlieb. She also was a partner in a Hong Kong-based art gallery selling contemporary Vietnamese art.

He also is president of the Findley Group (the management consulting arm of the Findley Companies), editor and publisher of The Findley Reports Newsletter, and a registered investment adviser. J. EUGENE GRIGSBY III ’66 is president and CEO of the National Health Foundation in Los Angeles. A native of Charlotte, he completed his M.A. and Ph.D. from UCLA in 1968 and 1971, respectively. Grigsby assumed the presidency of the NHF in July 2002. Prior to joining NHF, he was a professor for 31 years at UCLA’s School of Architecture and Urban Planning.

FRED HAMEETMAN ’61 is chairman of the American Group of Los Angeles. The Los Angeles native received an A.B. in physics from Occidental and a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Caltech. He received a master of science degree in engineering from USC. Hameetman is a trustee of the Cal-American Properties Trust and owner of Cal-American Corp.—the general partner of nine Cal-American Income Property Funds—which currently oversees the management of more than $300 million in real estate.

OCTAVIO V. HERRERA '98 is a co-founder of AlphaGenius, Inc., a technology company that analyzes social media data and creates financial market trading strategies based on the data. Herrera also currently manages a hedge fund based on AlphaGenius trading strategies. In addition, he co-founded and sits on the board of directors for Jirbo Inc., a leading iPhone gaming company, which was sold to Insight Venture Partners in 2010. Herrera also co-founded anti-piracy technology provider MediaDefender, Inc., which was sold to ARTISTdirect Inc. in 2005. Herrera received his bachelor's degree in physics from Occidental and has been a member of the College Alumni Association Board of Governors and the Alumni Sharing Knowledge program.

JULIE DEES JOHNSON ’61 is a marriage and family therapist in Torrance. She received her A.B. in education and a general elementary teaching credential from Occidental, and her M.A. in clinical psychology from Pepperdine University in 1994. Johnson began her career teaching 1st and 3rd grades, as well as music, for the Los Angeles Unified School District from 1961 to 1963. She continued as a substitute teacher from 1963 to 1966. She then began her next phase of work, raising her children as a stay-at-home mother, as well as finding time to pursue multiple volunteer activities in her community, church, and the PTA. She taught tennis both privately and for the City of Torrance from 1976 to 1992. She began her current endeavor as a private practice marriage family therapist in 1994.

The New York City native received a B.A. in political science from Occidental, a J.D. from UCLA, and an M.B.A. from Stanford. Kahane has been involved in a number of large and complex real estate transactions, including corporate restructurings for Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical, Pacific Lighting Corp., and Regent International Hotels; the corporate dissolution of Ala Moana Hawaii Properties; and asset sales for Outrigger Hotels Hawaii, Equitable Life Assurance Society, and Prudential Life Insurance.

JOHN KEISTER ’89 of Seattle is president, chief operating officer, and director of Marchex Inc. in Seattle. Previously, he was co-founder and former president of Go2Net Inc., where he oversaw software engineering, product development, sales, marketing, and business development. The Spokane, Wash., native received an A.B. in diplomacy and world affairs from Occidental. Keister was Go2Net’s chief operating officer from 1996 to 1999 and served as company president from 1999 until its merger in 2000 with InfoSpace. Following graduation, he played professional basketball for two seasons in France and Germany.

BARBARA KEMP P’04 recently retired as a Manhattan prosecutor in charge of federally funded community crime reduction programs and is the former president of the Scarsdale Public School Board. She serves on the board of the Yale Westchester Alumni Assn. Past civic work includes service on the boards of the Scarsdale Synagogue-Tremont Temple and the Overhill Neighborhood Assn. She was also a Girl Scout leader for many years. Kemp graduated from Yale and Boston University School of Law. She and her husband, Gil, have established three endowed scholarships at the College.

CHARLENE CONRAD LIEBAU is director of College Counseling Services in San Marino. She began her career as assistant dean of women at San Jose State University from 1961 to 1963. She joined Occidental as administrator of the Caswell Fund in 1968, and later served in Occidental’s admission office. She was assistant director of admission from 1979 to 1982, associate director from 1982 to 1985, and dean of admission at Occidental from 1985 to 1994. While at Occidental, she served on the Strategic Planning Committee, the Presidential Search Committee, the Search Committee for Vice President for Student Services, and chaired the Recruitment and Retention Task Force. Liebau then became director of admissions at Caltech from 1994 to 2003, and served as senior advisor for the same office from 2003 to 2004. Since 2005, she has been director of College Counseling Services.

GORDON MacINNES '63 is a fellow at the Century Foundation and a consultant to the Foundation for Child Development, both in New York. He was a lecturer and senior education policy expert at Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School from 2007 to 2009. From 2002 to 2007, he served as assistant commissioner for Abbott implementation for the New Jersey Department of Education. MacInnes was elected to the New Jersey General Assembly in 1974 and to the state Senate in 1994. He also has served in a variety of nonprofit roles, including president of Planned Parenthood of Greater Northern New Jersey, and treasurer for the Jersey Battered Women's Shelter. MacInnes is the author of several books, most recently In Plain Sight: Difficult Lessons from New Jersey's Expensive Effort to Close the Achievement Gap (The Century Foundation, 2009). He was a political science major at Occidental and received a master's in public affairs from Princeton. MacInnes is currently a member of the board of governors of Rutgers.

JANET McINTYRE '96 is an executive coach in Los Angeles with a client list that includes CEOs, executive directors, and senior staff in the nonprofit and public sectors. She also works with organizations to transform their culture in ways that encourage collaboration and empowerment. She previously worked as director of development and community relations for KUSC-FM in Los Angeles, and as manager of annual giving with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association. McIntyre graduated with honors from Occidental, majoring in public policy with a minor in Asian studies, and completed the Executive Master of Leadership program from USC in May 2010 with a concentration on nonprofit management. She founded the Leadership Women's Group in 2009 and is board member and secretary of Life Services Inc.

DANIEL IAN McKINNON ’89 is a partner and president of Ziff Brothers Investments in New York City. A native of Albuquerque, N.M., He is also the president of ZBI Equities, the firm’s domestic public equity investment fund, with several billion dollars under management. ZBI is the primary investment vehicle of the Ziff family and related entities. Since joining ZBI, McKinnon has executed investments across most segments of the capital markets, including public equity, venture capital, private equity and certain macro sectors such as sovereign debt. From 1989 to 1991, he was an investment banking analyst with Merrill Lynch & Co., and from 1994 to 1995 was a consultant with Bain & Co.

ROBERT NEITHART ’87 is an executive vice president and director with Capital International Research Inc. in Los Angeles. Neithart has worked for the Capital Group since he graduated from Occidental with a bachelor’s degree in economics and philosophy. He has worked in various areas of investment research, both in the U.S. and abroad. For the past 15 years, a majority of his time has been focused on fixed income research and portfolio management, with a particular emphasis on emerging market and multi-currency investment grade assets. He has also served as a research manager for Capital’s emerging market and macro research groups.

JOAN A. PAYDEN is president and CEO of Payden & Rygel, a global investment firm headquartered in Los Angeles. A native of New Haven, Conn., she received a B.A. degree in mathematics and physics from Trinity College in Washington, D.C., and pursued graduate studies in mathematics for a year at Columbia University. In 1981, she completed the advanced management program at Harvard Business School. She also holds the professional designation of CFA (chartered financial analyst). When Payden moved to Los Angeles, she joined the firm of Scudder, Stevens & Clark and was named the first female partner of this national organization in 1975. She served as managing partner of the West Coast operations of Scudder before founding Payden & Rygel in 1983. The firm has a subsidiary in London—Payden & Rygel Global Limited—as well as offshore investment companies in Dublin and Frankfurt. Payden lives in Santa Monica.

JOHN B. POWER ’58 is a retired partner with O’Melveny & Myers in Los Angeles. A native of Los Angeles, he graduated magna cum laude from Occidental with an A.B. in political science. In 1961, he earned his J.D. degree from New York University School of Law and completed a course of study at Parker School of Comparative and International Law at Columbia University Law School in 1972. A specialist in corporate law, Power joined the Los Angeles law office of O’Melveny & Myers in 1961, becoming a partner in 1969. From 1973 to 1975, he was resident partner in the Paris office, and from 1987 to 1990 coordinated O'Melveny & Myers’ international practice in Los Angeles. Active in the California and American Bar associations, he has chaired numerous bar committees. In addition, Power is a member of the board of governors of the Financial Lawyers Conference (president, 1985-1986), and has written and lectured extensively on legal topics.

VALERIE S. (TRUESDELL) REECE ’73 is a software technical lead with Northrop Grumman in Redondo Beach. The New York City native attended Occidental from 1969 to 1971, graduating from the University of Colorado, Boulder, in 1972 with a B.A. in mathematics. Reece began her career as a mathematics teacher at El Segundo High School in California, remaining at the school from 1975 to 1983. In August 1983, she relocated to Fairfax County, Va., where she joined the faculty of James Madison High School as a computer science teacher. She left the field of education in 1985 and joined TRW (now Northrop Grumman), where she continues today as a software technical lead for subcontracts.

STEVEN R. ROBINSON ’77 is president of SRR Trading, LLC in Northern California. After completing his B.A. in economics from Occidental, he worked in marketing, corporate, and economic planning at the General Telephone Co. of California from 1977 to 1985. He then become an options market maker at the Pacific Stock Exchange until 1989. Robinson founded Group One Trading, LLC in 1989, working as trader and director of risk management before becoming president in 1996. He was chief executive office of Group One Trading, LLC from 2000 to 2003. He has been president and managing member of SRR Trading, LLC since 2006.

PAUL RUBIN '75 has more than 25 years of experience and expertise in the pharmaceutical industry and biotechnology. He is the vice president of clinical research and chief medical officer for XOMA, Ltd., a discovery-based biotechnology company based in Berkeley, Calif. Previously he was the president and chief executive officer of Resolvyx Pharmaceuticals, a Cambridge, Mass.-based company that is developing a new class of medicines that treat disease by activating the body's pathways to shut off inflammation. Rubin also has served as president and CEO of Lexington, Mass.-based Critical Therapeutics, and executive vice president of research and discovery of Sepracor, now Sunovion Pharmaceuticals Inc., in Marlborough, Mass. Rubin received a medical degree from Rush University’s medical school after graduating cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in biology from Occidental.

RICK RUGANI ’75 is a retired independent financial advisor who spent more than two decades in the investment banking industry—most recently as managing director of Cowen & Company. Before that, he worked at Lehman Brothers and L.F. Rothschild, Unterberg, Towbin. He started his career at the management-consulting firm McKinsey & Company. For the last seven years Rugani has been on the board of trustees of the Bronxville (N.Y.) schools, most recently as its vice president. He also served as a member of the alumni advisory committee of the Yale School of Management and on Occidental’s capital campaign advisory committee. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the College, and was the first Occidental student to receive the Luce Scholarship— a nationally competitive fellowship program to enhance the understanding of Asia among potential leaders. In 1980, Rugani earned an MBA/MPPM from Yale.

JANETTE SADIK-KHAN ’82 serves as the commissioner of the New York City Department of Transportation. Since her appointment in 2007, she has implemented an ambitious program to improve safety, mobility and sustainability throughout New York City. Before joining the city, Sadik-Khan was a senior vice president for the U.S. transit market for Parsons Brinckerhoff, a leading international engineering firm. She also served as a deputy administrator for the Federal Transit Administration. She is president of the National Assn. of City Transportation Officials, chair of the Transportation Research Board’s committee on transportation issues in major U.S. cities, and chair of Reconnecting America. She is also the incoming president of the American Assn. of State Highway and Transportation Officials. Sadik-Khan is on the boards of the Regional Plan Assn., Women in Transportation Seminar, and the Center for Transportation Excellence. She serves on several committees of the American Public Transit Assn. and has published widely on transportation policy, planning, and finance and project management. After graduating cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in political science, Sadik-Khan received a law degree from Columbia University in 1987. She received an honorary degree from Occidental in March 2010, when she was the keynote speaker for the Antoinette and Vincent M. Dungan Lecture on Energy and the Environment.

CATHERINE YOUNG SELLECK ’55 is a consultant in Menlo Park. A native of Pasadena, she graduated from Occidental College with an A.B. degree in economics and joined IBM, where she spent 35 years in a variety of management and executive positions, including general manager, professional services, 1980-1985; vice president of field operations, national distribution division, 1985-1989; and corporate director, office and publishing systems, 1990-1991. In 1992, she was named president and chief executive officer of Metaphor Inc. Selleck is currently an independent business consultant.

ROBERT ALLEN SKOTHEIM served as president of Occidental from January 2008 to July 2009. A historian of national reputation, he received his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in history from the University of Washington. Moving through the ranks from instructor to full professor, Skotheim taught at UCLA, the University of Colorado, Wayne State University, and the University of Washington, where he was a Guggenheim Fellow and the recipient of Washington’s Distinguished Teaching Award and the Distinguished Achievement Award in the College of Arts and Sciences. He served as provost and dean of faculty at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in the 1970s. He was president of Whitman College from 1975 to 1988, where he led the largest capital campaign ever undertaken by any college or university in the Pacific Northwest up to that time. He moved on to become president of the Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens from 1988 to 2001, where he was instrumental in focusing that major cultural institution on a new mission—education.

BERNARD J. TYSON is president and chief operating officer of Kaiser Permanente, the nation's largest not-for-profit health plan and health care provider. Prior to his current role, Tyson served as senior vice president for health plan and hospital operations and as senior vice president of brand strategy and management. He also served as chief operating officer of regions outside California for Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Inc. He began his career at Kaiser Permanente in 1985 at the San Francisco Medical Center, where he worked in a number of management positions. In 1992, he was promoted to hospital and health plan administrator at Santa Rosa. In 1995, he was promoted to vice president, and later, to associate regional manager for the Northern California region. In 1996, he assumed the role of senior vice president and East Bay local market leader in the California division and was then promoted to president of the Central East Division, which includes the Maryland, Washington, D.C., Virginia, and Ohio markets.

ANDREA L. VAN DE KAMP established her own consulting firm in public affairs fundraising in August 2004, after 14 years as chairman of Sotheby’s West Coast business activities. Van de Kamp graduated in 1966 from Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree in history, and holds a master's degree in history from Teachers College, Columbia University. Prior to joining Sotheby’s, she was president and CEO of the Independent Colleges of Southern California, where she administered annual fundraising campaigns for 15 independent colleges. Since 2003, she has been chairman emeritus of the Music Center of Los Angeles County. During her seven-year tenure as chairman, she chaired the development committee to build Walt Disney Concert Hall, a $270-million building that opened in October 2003.

CHRISTOPHER VARELAS ’85 is global co-head of Citigroup’s technology, media, and telecom investment banking division. The Springfield, Mass., native received an A.B. in economics and philosophy from Occidental and an MBA in finance from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. Varelas manages Citigroup’s relationships with the likes of IBM, Microsoft, PeopleSoft, and Lucent.
