Adult education classes (UCLA Extension)
UCLA Extension offers a variety of classes on the Occidental campus throughout the year. For more information, select the “Locations+Maps” tab on the UCLA Extension home page, or call (310) 825-9971. We do not offer any of our own adult education or continuing education classes. 


Advertising (student newspaper)
Published each Wednesday during the academic year, the Occidental Weekly is distributed on campus to 2,700 faculty, staff and students. (The Weekly is not published during the summer, May through August, or during semester breaks.) To advertise in the Weekly, please call or email the business staff at businessweekly@oxy.edu. The newsroom can be reached at (323) 259-2896. 

Conferences (and other events)
Occidental’s Office of Conference Services provides individualized service and competitive rates for housing, meals, and facility rentals. Contact Lori Fiacco at (323) 259-2795.

Filming/photography on campus
Inquiries regarding filming and commercial photography on campus should  directed to Unreel Locations at (323) 953-6189. Fees are charged.

Lost and Found
If you have lost an item on campus, call Campus Safety at (323) 259-2599.

Rentals (apartments/houses)
Occidental’s Office of Housing Services maintains a list of off-campus rentals for the convenience of our students. To add a property to that listing, call Housing Services at (323) 259-2531.

Student employment/internships
If you have a job or internship opening for students, please call the Career Development Center at (323) 259-2623.

Transcript Request
Alumni can obtain an official copy of their transcript for $5 each by contacting the Registrar’s Office.

Tutors
Parents looking for a tutor for their child should contact the Career Development Center at (323) 259-2623. Our Community Literacy Center also provides one-on-one reading and writing instruction for K-6 children. Call (323) 259-2781.

Weddings
To arrange for a wedding or wedding and reception on campus, contact Mary Grogan at (323) 259-2629.

When is…?


Occidental’s academic year typically runs from the end of August to the middle of May. Commencement traditionally is held on a Sunday morning in mid-May. During the year, we host a wide range of events – music, theater, speakers, films and art exhibitions – most of which are open to the public free of charge.

Performing Arts Venues

  • Thorne Hall, which seats 835, is the College’s main auditorium. It is located at the north end of the College Quadrangle, between Baer and Bird roads.
  • The 412-seat Keck Theater is the main venue for theater productions. It is on Coons Road on the east side of campus.
  • Booth Hall, just east of Thorne Hall, contains the intimate Bird Studio, often used for music recitals.
  • The Bird Hillside Theater, located in the northeast corner of campus on Coons Road, is an outdoor amphitheater that seats 3,600 people. Commencement ceremonies are held here each year.

Parking
Visitor parking is free on campus. There are two visitor parking lots. See our campus map for more information.

Bookstore
The Occidental Bookstore is on the ground floor of the Johnson Student Center, facing the Student Quad and Samuelson Pavilion.

Emergencies
Campus Safety officers are on patrol 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Dial “5” from any campus telephone, or call (323) 259-2511. To contact the Los Angeles Police Department, dial 911.
