Writing 'Thank You' Letters

Occidental's donors want to hear from the students they so generously support. Therefore, you may be asked to write a 'Thank You' letter for a scholarship you received.

'Thank You' letters help to ensure that donors continue to provide scholarship support to Occidental students. Many donors have increased their contributions after learning their gifts had a positive impact on the lives of others. Although you are busy and don’t have much spare time, your note means a great deal to the College’s fundraising program as well as to your fellow students. With each 'Thank You' letter, we improve Occidental’s opportunity to add to our scholarship funds.

We provide some simple tips to assist you in writing your 'Thank You' letter.*

Because of the importance attached to these acknowledgements, a hold may be placed on the disbursement of your scholarship or your scholarship may be cancelled if your letter is not received in a timely manner.
