Getting Hired
1. Check Available Jobs
-
On-campus positions are posted online and on the bulletin board outside the Human Resources Office in the lower level of the AGC Administrative Building.
-
Check daily for new postings.
-
Look for on-campus jobs that best fit your educational interests and career goals.
-
There is a job fair in early September, notices to students with work awards are mailed in advance.
2. Apply for the Position
-
Complete and submit an application to the department where you wish to work. Please note that some departments may require an application different from the general employment application.
-
It is important to note that you may apply for and have more than one job as long as the total hours for all jobs worked does not exceed the 15 hour per week maximum.
3. Complete Employment Forms
-
Once you have been offered a position, your supervisor will submit your payroll information using the Electronic Personnel Action Form (EPAF) to the Human Resources Office. The EPAF can be found in the myOxy portal. You cannot begin work until the EPAF has been submitted by your supervisor and returned with an "APPROVED" status by the Human Resources Office.
-
If you have never worked on-campus before, you will need to provide appropriate documentation to prove your identity and eligibility to work in the United States (I-9 form), and complete a W4 tax form. To satisfy the requirements of the I-9 form, you will be asked to present original documents such as an unexpired passport or the combination of a driver's license and social security card. For a complete list of acceptable documents see: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-9.pdf
-
If you are a returning student, your supervisor will submit your payroll information using the EPAF to the Human Resources Office.
-
Human Resources will verify your work eligibility and send an electronic approval to your supervisor.
-
Until your supervisor receives approval from Human Resources, do not work!
This process must be completed for every job you have on-campus. The completed online EPAF form and online time sheet must be received by Human Resources and the Payroll Office in accordance with established deadlines in order for you to be paid on time for the period worked.
