Geology majors graduate with a broad liberal arts education, with strong writing and critical thinking skills and significant field experience. They have specialized knowledge and research experience in geology and environmental geology. The breadth and depth of their skills prepares them to be successful in a wide variety of professions. Many students begin working as a geologist directly after graduation and about half the majors continue on to graduate school in Geology or Environmental Science. Other graduates have gone on to successful careers as teachers, lawyers, architects, and planners.
