Eligibility: A 2.75 GPA.
Dates: Fall: Late August - Mid-December; Spring: Mid-January - Early May
Location: Washington, D.C.; population 550,000.
Program Structure: Through the Washington Semester Program through American University, students enroll in a specific seminar, participate in a part time internship and conduct an independent research project. Please note that while other Washington Semester students have the option to enroll in an American University course, Occidental students are required to take the research project option. The following seminars are available to Occidental students:
American Politics
Economic Policy
Foreign Policy
Transforming Communities
International Environment and Development
Note that some seminars have an optional three week international component, as an addendum to the curriculum. Occidental students who choose to participate in the international program are financially responsible for any additional program fees American University charges. Please contact an IPO advisor if you plan on participating in the optional international program.

Housing: Shared rooms with another Washington Semesters participant in campus housing at Tenleytown.
Number of Students: Approximately 30 students per seminar.
