OSL empowers students to become active and responsible citizens through involvement.

 

Values

Accountability:
We are always responsible for our actions and for learning from and teaching those around us. We are always accountable to our roles, and have a responsibility to understand and live up to the expectations of our communities, roles, and relationships. We encourage students to be present in all that they do.

Awareness:
Involvement promotes awareness of self and a sense of belonging and community. Students become aware of social injustices and of those who have different intercultural perspectives.

Curiosity:
We believe in learning within and beyond the classroom. Involvement promotes an active mind that seeks to understand before being understood.

Leadership:
OSL promotes a model of students leading students in education, exploration, and responsibility. Leadership requires the highest standards of integrity and ethics.

Partnership:
OSL seeks out and builds relationships at all opportunities.  We work with students and colleagues to provide outstanding services and programs to the College community. We are sincere in our efforts to seek collaboration and build teams. Collaboration allows us to effectively share limited and finite resources.

Driven by our mission and values, the Office of Student Life will:

• Broaden community participation in programs and events

• Help students understand and navigate organizational structures and processes

• Provide resources and opportunities to connect with Oxy and the surrounding communities

• Assist students in developing cohesive teams that encourage role modeling and peer-to-peer accountability
