French Studies

The French program at Occidental introduces students to the rich intellectual, literary, cultural, and political traditions of the Francophone world through the study of works from Africa, Canada, the Caribbean, and Europe. Supported by a state-of-the-art language laboratory, the program seeks to develop multiple skills of oral and written expression, aural comprehension, critical thinking, and literary analysis. The student may choose either a literature or a culture concentration.
