Chinese Language and Literature

Occidental offers courses in elementary, intermediate, and advanced Chinese (Mandarin), Chinese calligraphy, and traditional and modern Chinese literature in translation. Chinese is offered as a minor only. Two of the four required courses can be taken at an Occidental-in-China campus. Students may also combine Chinese with another language (French, German, Japanese, Russian, Spanish) into a Group Major.
