James Swan Hall, at the west side of the main quadrangle, was built by Mrs. Frances B. Swan as a tribute to her husband. The building provides seminar rooms and faculty offices. The facility served as a men's residence hall until the early 1960s. South Swan houses the American Studies, Economics, and History Departments. Middle Swan is the home for the Anthropology, Psychology, and Sociology Departments. North Swan holds the offices for English and Comparative Literary Studies, Institutional Research, and Politics Departments. Erected 1914.
