The Hameetman Science Center was designed by the firm of Anshen+Allen within the Myron Hunt tradition and with the best of Occidental in mind, based on the principle of close interaction between students and faculty engaged in cutting-edge research. Opened in August 2003, the building named in honor of Fred Hameetman ’61 and his wife Joyce is home to the College’s geology, physics, and environmental science programs. The 41,000-square-foot, three-story structure houses 23 research and teaching labs (including plasma physics and fluid dynamics), 15 faculty offices, and three seminar rooms.
