RSS Feeds
How to subscribe to Oxy's RSS feed:
RSS content is read using software called an "RSS reader," "feed reader" or "aggregator." Each RSS reader/aggregator setup is different, but the process is the same.
Oxy's main RSS news feed URL is http://www.oxy.edu/RSS.xml. To subscribe to it, simply copy and paste the link into the location line of your news reader and then click "subscribe." When news items are published to Oxy's home page, those items will automatically appear in your RSS reader.
About RSS
RSS (Rich Site Summary/Really Simple Syndication) is a format for delivering regularly changing web content. It is used to publish frequently updated content such as blog entries, news headlines or podcasts. An RSS document, which is called a "feed," "web feed," or "channel," contains either a summary of content or the full text.
RSS makes it possible for people to keep up with their favorite web sites in an automated manner that's easier than checking them manually. It allows you to easily stay informed by retrieving the latest content from the sites you are interested in. You save time by not needing to visit each site individually.
A variety of RSS Readers are available for different platforms. Some popular feed readers include ListGarden (Windows, Linux, Mac) and Feedster (Windows).
