Occidental Reaccreditation Process

The accreditation process provides an opportunity for the College community to engage in a shared, comprehensive assessment of the College's strengths and weaknesses and to move forward in pursuit of common passions and ideals. Through this process of reflection, review, and renewal we can assure that our educational objectives, curriculum, and allocation of resources are consistent with each other and the College's mission.

Using the WASC Standards and process as a guide, Occidental will use the next few years to continue its move toward a culture of assessment, improved communication, and systematic planning. Ultimately, all of these activities are intended to strengthen student learning. More information about WASC accreditation can be obtained from the 2008 WASC Handbook of Accreditation

Organization for the Reaccreditation Process

A Steering Committee established by the Vice President of Academic Affairs/College Dean (who also serves as Occidental's WASC Accreditation Liaison Officer) has the responsibility of guiding all accreditation preparation activities. This includes full engagement by college constituencies in the development and approval of all documents and data. In addition to the Steering Committee, working groups will be established for each review as needed.
