Dear Oxy Student,
The Office of Residential Education and Housing Services wants you to have the best living experience possible while you’re here at Oxy. The experiences students have living off-campus is a particular concern. That’s why we’ve prepared this information for those of you choosing to live off-campus in 2009-2010. In this section of our site, you'll find all the information you need to prepare for off-campus living.
Off-campus living is radically different than residence hall life. It can be an exciting change, but it also comes with some new responsibilities. As a family-oriented community, Eagle Rock was founded in 1911 as one of LA’s first suburbs.
It became part of the City of Los Angeles in 1923, just four years after Oxy moved to its current campus location. Occidental College is an active participant in many community organizations and neighborhood activities throughout Eagle Rock. Our participation is both formal, through our Office of Government and Community Relations, as well as informal, through our students, faculty, and staff that choose to live in the area. It is our hope and confidence that you will contribute to the positive relations that exist between the College and our neighbors.
In the year ahead, we look forward to working with you to address concerns that arise for students such as yourself who have chosen to live off campus.
