About Us

Emmons Health Center is committed to providing students at Occidental College with high quality medical care, preventive health education and supportive counseling services. Our staff applies a comprehensive approach to health care and provides services to enhance the physical and emotional well-being of students so they may be fully engaged in all aspects of their college experience. We recognize the many social, cultural and academic issues students face during the college years and provide services to meet these needs.

Our counseling staff of licensed therapists provide assessment and short-term individual and small group counseling to help students be fully engaged in their academic and social activities. In addition to providing referrals for psychiatric evaluation, long-term therapy, medication monitoring, or more serious problems, we provide consultation and support to faculty and professional staff. Professional counseling staff are on call twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

Our medical staff of nurse practitioners is overseen by our medical director.  The nurse practitioners provide routine physical examinations, evaluation and treatment for most minor injuries and illnesses, women’s health services, screening exams, lab tests, immunizations, prescriptions and referrals to medical specialists in the community.

Emmons Health Center is open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. throughout the year.
