"One of the classes I found most informative and influential was Dr. Dess's class on Psychology of Gender. Not only was her class well-structured and well taught, it was thought provoking in a way that opened my eyes. I had a number of discussions about the subject with peers outside of the course. Honestly, what I learned from a analytical and psychological approach to the study of gender has influenced every area of my life since. Not only has it catalyzed my own critical analysis of my environments, it also provided a foundation for self reflection."
"One of my most meaningful hands-on experiences has been an internship coordinated by the Career Development Center known as the Community Arts and Public Service (CAPS) Internship. I was fortunate enough to work at the Children's Law Center for a summer doing legal work, conducting research on a relevant and overlooked issue in the foster care system, and interacting with the clients (foster kids). The internship as well as the mentorship provided by the Career Development Center were both invaluable experiences for me as they provided me with on-site experience in a field I am passionate about, but also supplied me with the resources and practical knowledge imperative for anyone entering the work force."
