The Office of Student Life covers a wide range of aspects in the life of Oxy students. While our work can be broken down into a few distinct areas, we try to serve a wide range of student needs that do not necessarily fall into these categories. Our main areas of focus are:
This includes the fall and spring orientation for all new first year, transfers, exchange and visiting students. We also provide programs for students who may be the first in their families to attend college as well as unique programs for transfer students. Regardless of your previous destination, our goal is to create a smooth transition to the Oxy community.
OSL strives to create a culture of involvement among students that ranges from positions in student organizations to taking on their own leadership challenges in the world. We provide support for the creation and maintenance of student organizations as well as leadership training focused on helping students develop the knowledge, awareness, and skills to achieve their passion.
Occidental is proud to be home to a variety of fraternal organizations. We have local organizations with long and storied histories as well as local chapters of national/international organizations. Members of Oxy's Greek community have provided hours of service, raised thousands of dollars in philanthropy, and provide vital leadership skills to the campus.
Student Life strives to make Oxy a vibrant place to live, work, and play. In collaboration with Associated Students of Occidental College (ASOC) and its Student Services as well as individual students, student organizations, campus departments, and off-campus entities, OSL plans and supports a wide range of events on campus. From Labor Day weekend through Senior Week, speakers and discussions to comedy shows and concerts - we help bring campus to life!
