Taking advantage of its location in Los Angeles, Occidental College’s Music Department has developed one of the country’s top music business programs, according to Billboard magazine.

On Wednesday, March 6, Professor Jongnic Bontemps conducted his original music from the HBO documentary film United Skates at a special concert.

This spring, we welcome our first-ever Johnston-Fix Professor of the Practice in Songwriting. Ramona Gonzalez of Nite Jewel will draw on her experience as an internationally touring musician and independent producer to teach students the in's and out's of the songwriting process. Her class will expose students to representative songs from the most influential genres of the past 60 years.

In an ongoing partnership with the Occidental College Music Department, Highland Park's Pacific Opera Project stages Verdi's masterpiece La traviata in Thorne Hall.

To support the launch of our new Music Production program, we are hosting industry professionals in a series of guest lectures with funding from the Mellon Foundation, with past guests including Christopher Sampson, Dave Berkus, Ludwig Goransson,
