The CDLA equips Oxy students with the critical literacies and technical skills they need to realize the enduring value of a liberal arts education in a rapidly changing world.
We offer workshops for courses, such as data visualization, digital archives, and advanced research, as well as individual research consultations, peer-to-peer subject and language advising, and co-curricular programs in audio, video, computation and design in the student-run Critical Making Studio. Based in the Academic Commons, we oversee a College-wide network of learning spaces and information resources, collaborating with students and faculty to develop information literacy across multiple modes of communication such as quantitative, visual, archival, geo-spatial, participatory, and other emergent media forms.
Whether you are considering the use of digital storytelling, interactive data visualization, or creating online exhibits of primary sources, we are here to guide you toward a smooth and productive integration of digital resources into your teaching practice.
Are you working on a project that involves a digital platform or tool that is new to you? Do you need collaborators or a sounding board? We can help you start, expand, or identify collaborators and audiences for your digital research projects.
The library’s collections span unique and rare print books, to networked print collections, to millions of digital sources. We can help you navigate the resources and guide students as they make choices about how and where to find information.
Are you looking for the right tool to help you work more productively or to engage students in the classroom? We provide support driven by user needs and experiences.
